Working with Indian in Indian set - up workplace

Working with Indian in an Indian set up is not easy. The work culture lack any ethic values or moral principles you can think of.

Most of the people, I would say 88 percent are so conniving, callous, scheming and cunning. I believe its very much the culture. Everywhere human are selfish by nature, but the way the Indian are selfish is that they want to harm you first and foremost, instead of trying to lookout some space for yourself which is very normal and norm in other culture and countries. But no, in Indian work place they will try to harm you first.

They are also insecure lot. And the fact of the matter is they also do not have any life outside work. Other thing they have is just family, not much of entertainment nor friends.

They do not like asking question nor they take question easily, either they are getting offended by question or take it personal. They have a herd mentality and everything they heard or get from their boss is accepted immediately and no question ask, no matter what question is. They are difficult to work with, they pretend to know everything. They do not say or want to say they do not know things or understand that they do not know things.

As one of tech insurgent blog rightly points out -
"...Indian-based and Indian resources are likewise extremely difficult to work with, and it has nothing to do with language or timezones - they refuse to speak up (from what we're told, "it's cultural", meaning don't make an issue of it or you'll get sent to sensitivity training). A solution can be completely wrong - as in, the contract says we were supposed to start work two months in the past or numbers literally don't add up, yet they won't question blatant errors, and won't respond if you question them. Apparently questioning someone else is deeply frowned upon, and makes them next to useless as anything but strict, brainless order takers. They have no initiative whatsoever, and seemingly no capability of independent creative thought. Maybe it's "cultural", maybe it's poor training - I don't know." http://techinsurgent.com/post/2010/03/13/IBMer-Indians-Are-Reviled.aspx

(ps - I like the above blog, all so true, mort articles in the blog are hit nail right at the head)

In-ept foreign diplomacy of the new govt.

This article beautifully point out how inept Modi's govt. in international diplomacy. They are pro Israel and yet they cannot show it due to the Muslims vote. etc. ( whatever is their reason) but voting in the UN security council that may lead to Israel as 'war criminal', show how in-ept or beyond inept in their diplomacy. Can't they just abstain the vote as they have a choice like many other countries?  And many European countries abstain. if Modi govt. wants to change from the past 3 decades of diplomacy of India, why follow the footsteps of the last 3 decades exactly the same. Modi Moooo, booo, hooo

Note to self

To self - You will meet people who will dislike/feel insecure/not feeling comfortable with your (strong) personality, or your vocal free speech on certain topic, or maybe the fact that you are direct and straight face unlike the diplomatic behaviour, or your lack of sugar coating things.

When those times happen, stand on your feet and your belief, which is honesty, bravery and integrity. They will try to hammer you down. But excellent and play smart in what you do, play smart but not compromising with your integrity.

One day, it will pays off. Know that you are going to reach so high, much high above all those people.

Indian Holi

I know the whole town is playing with colors today, but thank god I stay in (as I have been doing since long) ... I don't do Holi. I am not a Holi person, nothing to do with religion... Definitely not enthused with getting wet with water and different powder colors all over you (and it takes weeks to clean off, depend on the colors use)... and my first years of Holi experience was not the best experienced, some rough guys throwing plain water (sometimes mix with water) from their car or balcony from weeks before the actual day arrive (and seems like they targeted girls), going out to get a milk, or bread was always a big scary adventure from weeks before. I think it can also depend on the area of where all this rough guys are in a plenty. Another possibility is also that, as years passed by, I guess this throwing water or colors weeks before the actual day is slowly less and less.

M's opinion on local bikers club

Yesterday a friend who have a beautiful modified Enfield, told me that he recently joined a Harley Davidson club in the city (though his bike was not Harley), he went to their get-together dinner in one of the nice restaurant in my neighbouring mall, and what he said was, none of the locals with their Harley have much knowledge on bikes, forget about some modification or do something with their tons of money worth bikes, he feels the whole Harley Bikers club in town was so fake, no knowledge about bikes in general, not even their own Harley, seems like a bunch of local men who have enough money to buy Harley in this developing country and never actually ride it, except once in a month or once in two months for this Harley Bikers gatherings somewhere in some posh restaurant... In the same league, I'll put those locals who called themselves a staunch rock music lovers, or as a friend J from my city called them 'wannabe rockers', and in her own sentences --"The type that try to make up for their lack of badass-ness with musical instruments or admirable vocal chords with black clothing and dirty hair. And they came out in droves at the concert, men and women alike, who probably know a song or two of Metallica's (most likely 'Nothing else matters') and proclaim themselves die-hard Metallica fans"...Or for that matter, calling themselves a huge rock music fans.

RIP Nelson Mandela

What a great loss! Mr Mandela is no more, after a long unstable issue of respiratory issue. He is 95 yrs old. He passed away on Dec 5, 2013.

He was imprisoned for 27 yrs due to his stand against the government on the apartheid. He later on became the first black South Africa's President.

Putting some of his quotes I like

When a man is denied the right to live the life he believes in, he has no choice but to become an outlawed

I detest racialism because I regard it as a barbaric, whether it from a white man or from a black man

I learned that courage was not the absence of fear, but the triumph over it. The brave man is not he who does not feel afraid, but he who conquers that fear

RIP Paul Walker of Fast and Furious

One of the first feed of my Facebook I saw that day on Dec 1, 2013 was the car crash with explosion of Paul Walker and that he is confirm dead. And later on online news said that the car was drove by his friend who also died instantly from the explosion, both come back from Paul's charity event. He is just 40 yrs old.

I am one of strong fan of Fast and Furious, I like the story plot, the fast cars, beautiful girls, some action (not too violent), bits of romance, and some sort of excitement story plot of the outlawed expert car racers. I am a fan so I like all the sequels. And Paul Walker known as Brian O'Connor is in all except one, in the sequels.

Its a sad news and its hard to believe.

There is one of his quote, as if he knew he is going to die in a crash.

with Vin Diesel

I just saw a YouTube link that pay a tribute to him with clips of Fast and Furious with a matching soundtrack. Paul, fan like me misses you and will miss you, forever! Rest in Peace.
